To avoid a no-confidence motion, Prime Minister Imran Khan accepted the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar and selected PML-Q leader Pervez Elahi as Punjab Chief Minister.
Farrukh Habib, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, announced that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has resigned. Usman Bazdar has presented his resignation as Chief Minister to the Prime Minister, according to Farrukh Habib, after the decision was made to give the Chief Ministership to Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
Following it, the PML-Q announced a formal alliance with the government. According to the statement, a PML-Q team led by Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi met with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
On the event, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that he had accepted Usman Bazdar's resignation and that he had nominated and congratulated him as the Chief Minister of Punjab on behalf of his party.
